Blitz is back with vengance!!

User Rating: 8.9 | Blitz: The League PS2
I rented this game a little while ago and I must say I was really impressed. I was going in with high hopes because of how much I love playing Blitz on the Nintendo 64 and I was not disapointed.
When I first rented it I was a little disapointed because I was like, "Hey, where is the NFL teams??" That is what makes Blitz: The League different from all of the other football games out right now is that all of the teams on the game are all custom. Another thing that makes it different from other out right now is its M rating. After playing this you will see why it gets it M rating.
Well first I will start off with the good things. Like I said before Blitz: The League is very unique with the way it plays. It does not have the same rules as the other games. It really only has one rule, that rule is there is no rules. You can go and get late hits and just slam your opponent. A really cool feature about it is if you injury a player. When the injury happens it shows an x-ray of the part and shows the broken bone or whatever happened. Another thing is after you get injured you get a choice. Either juice your player and they will be back in a couple plays, or let the person sit out until it is healed. As you play through the story of this game you go through the 3 different division you also have a storyline going with your team owners and players. This is where the M rating pretty much comes in. The swearing in this game is just ridiculous!! Also a lot of the themes are something you would never see in any other football game
Another really cool feature is the great amount of stat building and customization you have. You can do everything from uniforms to stadiums to training. Another thing you can do is to put your player on performance enhancing drugs. Which make your player, just overall play much better, but it gives them more prone to injury.
The graphics are overall pretty impressive. The hits are really cool too. You can choose to do a normal hit like you would see in a real football game or you can do some special hits. Let me tell you, just think about a mixture between street fighting and UFC and you have the special hits. They are pretty brutal.
As for sound it is not for those that don't like swearing. Players and the owner are always curing about just about anything. Another thing I found pretty cool was how good the commentary was. I was expecting terrible stuff but it was pretty impressive.
So overall I thought this game was better than the other football games out right now. But if you don't like M rated games stay away from this game!! It got an M rating for a reason. But if you liked the original Blitz game Blitz: The League is a must have.
