Best platform game ever.
Well, upon completion of Double Dragon for about the sixth time, I decided to wander over and check it out. I was hooked immediately, even though I only lasted for about thirty eight seconds.
The main character is a barbarian wielding a long mace that can be upgraded buy spending the 'zenny' coins collected throughout the game. The enemies are also cool and consist of mummies, brutish warriors, demons, skeletons, man eating plants, dragons and even ninjas. There are chests that can be opened with keys, and potions to fend off poisons. The levels are diverse, well thought out and fun, and the bosses are fun to fight. There is also a significant amount of hidden things that can be found in walls, including coin bonuses and armour upgrades.
This is one of those games where trial and error are king. You have to run into all the pitfalls and obstacles before knowing how to avoid them. But with repeated play, comes a great deal of progression, and more importantly, higher scores.
It's hard to put a finger on why I found this game so amazing. But I didn't stop playing it until I was able to complete it with a single credit. Now even after all these years, I thoroughly love playing it on my PSP.
