You are Jack, a man whose plain crashed in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and survived. And suddenly, you have reached an entrace to the world of Rapture.
During your staying, you learn about the city build by a man with a dream: Live under the sea. This man is Andrew Ryan. The city is in ruins as you learn from your mentor and guide, Atlas. He is the one who takes you through the games.
It must be said that the story of the game is the most spectacular point. The games involves yourself in such a way that you may want to learn more about it that kill the enemies. It is a good FPS with a great story and great plot.
Innovation is the mean word for this game, since the gameplay is unique. You don't only get a lot of weapons to choose from during the game. You learn that you can have some substances that change your genetic structure to give you superpowers. These are plasmids. And then you can have tonics that improve your physical and mental habilities as power-ups. COmibining these two new elements, gives a you endless chances to go throught the game.
The good thing about plasminds is that you can use the environment itself as a weapon. Enemies on the water? use the Electro shock to kill them instantly. Surrounded by bushes? Make the burn with incinerate power. No ammo for the weapons? Use telekinesis to throw gas tubes to them. Endless possibilities!!!
Plus, you have a lot of things to look around to help you out on the quest. You have heal stations (You heal on them), Gene banks (You can change the plasmids and tonics you are carrying for some others you have found since you can only have a limited ammount of them), U-Invent station (You can upgrade your weapons here), Circus of Value (a vending that can help you to get health, ammo and other goodies), and another ones that you will learn about during the game.
You don't have money? No problem. You can always try to hack the machines to reduce prices and get new items from them. Hacking involves a mini puzzle. If you succed you get more from the machines for less, and if you fail you pay the price.
The main goal to survive is to get Adam. Adam is a sustance that give you the chance to get more power on the plasmid and health. You can only obtain it from the Little Sisters, a group of little girls that you will find. They carry the Adam that will help you survive. But it ain't easy to get it: They will be protected by teh BIG DADDIES, which are big monsters that you will identify crearly. When you kill the Big Daddy, you are able to get the girl and choose between harvest her o rescue her. Harvesting will kill the girl but it will give you a lot of ADAM... rescuing her will give you less ADAM but a freat satisfaction to save a girl. It is your choice.
Another thing that I feel is great and maybe the best on the game is the atmosphere on the environment. The city itself is gorgeous and greatly designed. You can spend hours just looking at every single detail on each level. The game itself is quite good and with the combination of gaming and atmosphere, it provides a unique experience that won't be forgotten soon.
The story is amazing. It could've been no monsters in all the game, and it would still worth the playing just to learn more about Rapture and its fall.
In other words, you should give this game a chance. there is a lot of fun no matter what are you into: A good plot, killing creatures, great environments, great battles, innovation. It is a great experience. At least one of the best games I ever played in long time.
The lows on the games may be that it gets too repetitive as you must walk around a lot on parts you already crossed. The enemies are not really hard. The game tends to stop in some zones, freezing and difficulting. But these aren't enough problems to avoid playing it
