Bioshock

Bioshock is about an crazy underwater super-conservative who has a sleek resemblance to Walt Disney. Bioshock is a multi-platform from 2K entertainment that won many game of the year awards during its 2007 release. The game takes place during 1960 in the underwater city of Rapture, where one mans dream is another mans reality

The game begins where the silent protagonist Jack awakens in the middle of the ocean after a plane crash. He swims to a mysterious building that houses a submarine. The submarine takes Jack to the underwater city of Rapture, a utopia founded by Andrew Ryan who believes that scientists who live there will focus on science and the future. As it turns out, the city has become a living nightmare long before Jacks arrival, where the hostile inhabitants kill each-other for a superpower drug called Adam. A mysterious man named Atlas contacts you by radio and has a plan to escape Rapture but needs help rescuing his family first. Jack must make his way across the broken city. The story and its characters is one of the best parts about Bioshock. So many dastardly twists and turns that you might want to take a break and remember that you just got Mind F***ed.

Gameplay follows a first person survival scene. All guns are unique and can each use different types of ammunition. You are also lucky enough to have superpowers by stabbing yourself with colorful drugs. These drugs can give you the powers of ice, fire, electricity, and etc. With these powers you can control the elements. For example: if you zap a pool of water while enemies wander in it, they will be electrocuted. Every power has a destructive use. You can also hack robots and vending machines to do your bidding. Hacking can aid you with combat and store discounts.

One of the most memorable things about Bioshock is the Big Daddy boss battles. Whats a big daddy? Big Daddys are Frankenstein-ish scuba-divers who protect little girls (AKA little sisters) who carry rich deposits of Adam. The little sisters are brainwashed but inside, want nothing more then to escape Rapture. So if you try getting too close to a little sister, you can expect that a Big Daddy will want to beat the crap out of you. Each Big D boss battle feels like an underwater Jedi showdown that will usually take a lot of ammunition, drugs, and hacking to win. After killing a big D, you can choose to either purify a little sister or kill her to harvest her ADAM.

Rapture itself is a science fiction monument. The city is filled with drug addicts that want nothing more then to steal all of your ADAM. The AIs are very intelligent, but not intelligent enough too make the stealth aspect of the game impossible. Water is incredibly realistic... in fact everything in this game is realistic! The graphics are spot on perfect to the point where the game world is damn well scary. The city feels like a giant haunted house, where the screams of the violent and crazy will bring shivers down your spine. Speaking of screaming, the voice acting is also wonderful.

Conclusion: Bioshock is a crazy good horror survival game that doesn't disappoint. The scalp pulling story and hideous enemies will give you a reason to fear the sea. Rapture is what happens when man tries to play god. Rapture is a permanent disaster beyond repair. No peace, no politics, no survival.
