The walking tank simulator of your dreams is here.

User Rating: 5 | BioShock 2 X360
IMMERSION: Bioshock 2 really makes strides to immerse players in the world visually and aurally. The helmet on head gimmick is well executed and believeable. The sound design likewise is well executed. Both of these elements work well together to create the illusion for the player that they are in a heavy metal suit. The plot is decent, but not as compelling or engaging as the combat. The game provides players with some very interesting choices, including a large drill which also happens to be part of the suit. Of all the methods and means the game could immerse players in it's world, it can be said to be successful only in creating the illusion of being in a large metal suit. On a personal note, this is a really cool thing that it was able to pull off the effect so well. That aside it scores a 7/15, average with more shortcomings than not.

DIFFICULTY: Hard, but done specifically for the purpose of creating dramatic tension. So criticising the game for being dickish or imprecise or critiquing weapons for being underpowered doesn't seem right, since there is a compelling reason for it. (7.5/15)

LASTING APPEAL: The binary moral choice will provide for at least two playthroughs, one good, one evil. Beyond those two playthroughs it has nothing else, a horde mode would be nice, but it isn't in the vanilla game, so it doesn't get scored. (7.7/15) Par for the course really, moral choice is standard for the genre anymore. The game earns two tenths of a point for the combat, which may provide another reason to come back to the game after completion.

OVERALL: (7.5/15) a good enough game with great atmosphere, which sadly is the one thing propping the game up. If it had more grab the player by the lapels and throw them against a wall content and a horde mode it would be darn near perfect.
