Big Mutha Truckers - or as I like to call it, 'Repetative Mutha F****rs'

User Rating: 6.3 | Big Mutha Truckers GC
Big Mutha Truckers is one of those games that is blooming with potential, but is let down by an overly simplistic structure and a repetative storyling.

The basis gist of the game is that old Ma Trucker is planning on retiring, and wants to sell the business to one of her 'atypical confederate' kids. To win, all the kids have to do is make the most money over a period of time. Buy a load, take tips from bars, and sell up in another town. Then repeat, again and again and again...

The sad thing about BMT is that it could have been awesome. Had th developers tapped into the Cubes internal clock, and actually let the game play out over real time, with real time lighting and driving, it could have been more fun, but instead it is possible to pass a week in an hour of time.

Also, the game has a few 'mini-missions' which are generally pointlessly tricky, even for the experienced gamer. Run over a biker, and the gang members will chase you, and try to climb on the trailer, resulting in a pretty easy 'swing the trailer til they fall off' response. Hit a cop car, and a VERY lacklustre police chase begins. If I were to drive a truck at speed the wrong way down a motorway I would expect some form of mass police response, but instead you get one of two cars bumping against you, with no real effect.

On the plus side, the now generic 'radio switch' is present, allowing a GTA style station change, but with only a couple of licensed tracks it all gets a little repetative, just like the rest of the game.

The animated cutscenes are poor, and the trucks handle a little too lightly, but all in all there is fun to be had, just don't expect anything deep.
