A highly innovative and fun game.

User Rating: 9.4 | Beetle Adventure Racing N64
Beetle Adventure Racing for the Nintendo 64 isn't like most other racing games. Driving in new Volkswagon Beetles, you do not only race down streets and towns, but through jungles, volcanoes, and even the occasional haunted woods; not only are the environments highly detailed, along with a large array of shortcuts and secret areas, there are alot of secret vehicles you can unlock while getting further in the Championship.

Each level has 3 Easter Eggs in it, in the shape of Daisy Boxes. Upon retrieving this, you will unlock more cheats, which will be available to you in the Cheats section under Options.
There is quite a bit of ambience in Beetle Adventure Racing as well, which make the levels "come alive". Each Volkswagon Beetle is highly detailed aswell, the further you get, the more unique Beetles you get.

A great Multiplayer mode is included with Beetle Adventure Racing; up to four people can play at once. 1-4 players are allowed to play Beetle Battle, where players must try to gather Ladybugs of 6 different colors, while attacking other players with power-ups, such as Missles, Mines, and Stealers. 1-2 players can play either Beetle Battle, or simply race in a track of their choosing. There are a total of 9 different maps on Beetle Battle, you start out with three, how to unlock the others is explained below.

While playing on one player, you have the choices of playing Single Race, or Championship, as you progress further on Championship, the more Volkswagons you unlock. There are four different difficulties for Championship: Easy, Intermediate, Experienced, Bonus. You will recieve a new Single Race level for each difficulty you complete, and new vehicles aswell. When playing in Single Race, you have 3 different race types. First is Time Attack, where you set your own records, and try to beat them. Second is Duel, you and an opponent race against each other. And Full Grid, where you race against 7 other opponents.

When playing in Championship, there is a wide array of point boxes scattered around the level. The boxes are either numbered: 2, 5, or 10. When gathering enough of these point boxes, you can gain a continue, which will allow you to retry the race if you fail. Gathering a total of 100 points will unlock you a new Beetle Battle arena.
There are many unlockables, which will keep you playing until you have all of them!

Overall, Beetle Adventure Racing is an outstanding game, and with so much to do, it's impossible not to play it again!
