Personally, I don't see how this game is better than other shoot and hack and slash games....

User Rating: 8.5 | Bayonetta PS3
Bayonetta is an interesting game, I have to say. With a interesting new character, new gameplay mechanic from the same guy who directed the first Devil May Cry, I was actually psyched to hear it but now I am not too sure if the game ever really deserve its 5 star treatment from gamers and fans of DMC.

Bayonetta is Sega's answer to Capcom's Devil May Cry series and its enough to say that both games have the same insanity, humor and appeal that makes it good for action game players. This makes Bayonetta noticably a same experience to the Devil May Cry where hordes of enemies go directly towards you to beat your butt to the ground and you have to mow down the tonnes of enemies in the game to move on.

The only major difference is that the enemies in Bayonetta are angels. Yes, totally opposite to DMC's Devils. Plus in Bayonetta, you play as a witch named Bayonetta and in DMC you play as Dante. Kinda makes you think that the games are inverse to each other don't you think?

The appeal in Bayonetta however is with sex appeal, when at times, when Bayonetta would strip herself to Finish off bosses and make very sensual dances when prompted to. This actually is a downfall for me because it gets tedious, hearing her moan and seeing her bare back, over and over, and over again as the angel you just finish off screams its last scream.

The gameplay is not as i expected it would be. I thought it would be a shooter with hack and slash elements implemented to it, but, no. I was wrong... IT IS CRAZY!!!! The battles are fast, faster, dare I say, than DMC. And it is fluid, easily beating DMC's gameplay in an eye wink. It isn't like locking on one enemy and beat it to death while his buddies can get a hit from you while you're distracted. Bayonetta's gameplay allows you to take on all enemies in any time. This is an upside for me as the gameplay feels fresh and actually similar to Batman: Arkham Asylum, a favourite in my collection.

The only downside is that the PS3 is a port of the Xbox 360's Bayonetta, so that means that the game is similar in technicals to the 360 and then there's the loading even after INSTALLING the game to your HDD. It is Bollocks!!! Sega has not put faith into the PS3 after seeing the great games it released just last year!!! C'mon Sega!!! If you're serious about releasing a game to the PS3, please do not make it a port, make it serious like DMC 4 where the games are all similar but faithful to the console's technicalities.

IN the end though, Bayonetta still manages to deliver, with excellent gameplay, insane story and ridiculous innuendo though marred down by the fact its a port and doesn't fit well to the PS3.. yet, the game is a great way to balst your way to 2010's games. With this game, let's hope that 2010 is a better year for games.

I highly recommend this game to action fans and those who like hack and slash games to try this game out. To others, it might not be much but it's a good way to introduce yourself to new year ahead.

Though, you're still welcome to pick it up.
