It's a known fact that Beat-'Em-'Up's were a fun genre for the NES and one of the games Besides River City Ransom that really stands out is Battle Toads this game was extremely fun but also extremely irritating I think that possibly besides the stupid RC Plane missions in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas this game has one of the most frustrating levels, You know what I'm talking about that's right Level 3 those **** turbo rockets. But anyway onto the review you play as a member of a trio of frog hero's that works for the Corporation against the Dark Queen it seems that the two groups are at war and when the Dark queen kidnaps your friend she pulls the frogs into the conflict and boy was that a huge freaking mistake, you never mess with frogs! The levels will vary from side scrollers to up and down, which is basically the norm for the NES the game will start you off making you think it's going to be ok nothing really big going on than you hit level 3 and oh my god could they make the pace anymore faster? I'm not kidding for this being the first NES they really pushed it to the limit I don't think Sonic the Hedgehog could go that freaking fast. Well, if you could continue past that level unless you trashed your TV or NES you will once again be lulled into a false sense of safety when all of a sudden you are on one wheel contraception that looks like a bike that wasn't finished and your being chased by this crazed circle that wants you dead, the way to get past this level is to push the direction on your controller that the arrows show on the game. The only other level I seemed to have a major freaking problem with was the level where your being chased by a huge **** sprocket or whatever you want to call it, it looks like a piece of a clock. Other than those levels the game is fun, it has that fun Beat-'Em-Up Element that makes a lot of those types of games fun for the NES. Now I must comment on something, is it wrong to find cartoon characters.....appealing? I mean the Dark Queen they didn't go out of the way to hide her....assets and every time I saw them it just puts thoughts in my head that isn't appropriate so I won't say them here but I mean is it so wrong to like that kind of stuff? Overall this game gets a 9 out of 10 it would have gotten a 10 out of 10 if for the fact it wasn't so freaking hard at points. The controls were great and the visuals were excellent for a device over 20 years old. If you like Beat-'Em-Up's you'll like this game.
