BF2 Special Forces brings new weapons, armies and gadgets into the fray.

User Rating: 8.5 | Battlefield 2: Special Forces PC
Special Forces focuses on the Special Forces units of the World{obviously}. This great expansion has 5 new Factions that combat across 8 new maps. Unfortunately for Single Player fans only 6 of them are playable for you. Each of these maps are more focused on infantry than the original Battlefield 2. That's not to say that vehicles aren't important and several new and fun vehicles are featured ranging from a Russian APC to one person water transports. New weapons are also featured including a number of new unlocks that can be used in the original game. Despite the host of new content the game sometimes falls flat on its face. Of the 5 new factions 3 are identical to the MEC in all but appearance which makes you feel that EA and DICE didn't put in all the effort they should have. However the other new content provides some much needed variety to the game. Also the expansion must be run via a different executable meaning you can't have maps from both games on a server which is a little disappointing. The most entertaining addition to the game is the various gadgets given to the different soldier classes. They range from flashbangs which temporarily blind you opponents to grappling hooks which allow infantry to access all corners of city maps. None of the tools are gimmicks and all alter gameplay.

The Bottom Line: this expansion adds heaps of new interesting content to the game and must be bought
