WBIE should leave it in Rocksteady's hand

User Rating: 7 | Batman: Arkham Origins PS3

Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series is one of the best action adventure game series available in the market. It should stay that way if Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment didn't rush the third game and gave it to WB Montreal. Batman: Arkham Origins is an exact copy of Batman: Arkham City, but even doing that is not enough to make this game a worthy addition to the Batman: Arkham series.

The Story (8/10)

+ pretty interesting story

+ nice build to the pretty cool twist near the end

+ the origin story of Batman and Joker is amazing, definitely the best part of the game.

The Gameplay (6.5/10)

+ same familiar gameplay from previous games

+ the new detective mode with the crime reconstruction feature is awesome

- not much new addition to the gameplay section

- they raised the challenge by adding the quantity of the enemy, not the quality. Leading to some frustrating parts of the game because i feel cheated when i must fight 50 or more enemies in single encounter perfectly, especially when the counter attack is somehow feel less responsive than previous games.

- some boss battle feels too long and boring

The Graphics (8.5/10)

+ same awesome graphics powered by the Unreal Engine

+ same awesome lightning and particle effects

+ same awesome character design

+ pre-Arkham Gotham City is a great place with mysterious and spooky atmosphere

+pretty smooth framerate

The Sound (8/10)

+ good voice acting, enough to replace Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill

+ nice scores that reflect the dark and moody atmosphere of Gotham

+ same great sound effect from previous games

VERDICT (7.5/10)

Batman: Arkham Origins is by no means a bad game, but it's hard not to expect more from it because of the awesomeness from the previous games.
