First, the game is not as good as City BUT only because of the bugs. So, the annoying things first:
CONS
Camera can be annoying as you fight with it while in combat to move how you want
Bugs Bugs Bugs, freezes are frustrating...nuff said. At least they have not happened often with me, only twice so far.
The level up tree should NOT have been messed with, they should have kept it the same as City, being forced to follow the tree and not chose what you want is stupid and annoying
Where's the Batman Beyond Skin?!? Come on!
All in all, the MOST frustrating thing is that the combat is not as responsive as it was in City...sometimes you press "Y" but he does not block and your combat flow is screwed up. After playing Origins for a while I went back to City to see if there was a noticeable difference here, and there was, pretty noticeable actually.
PROS
Story is awesome and the new additions to detective mode in the game is fun
Combat is still the best aspect of this game/series and has even improved on the combat over City. I played this entire game and then replayed Arkham City and the combat in city was very noticeably not as fluid. For one, in City your combo gets ruined very easily even when you point batman in the direction of another opponent many times he will not jump forward but just punch in the air at nothing completing ruining free flow, not so in origins. This is a very welcome improvement to the game as combat is the most fun aspect of it. Batman now always responds to where you move him and the timing of your button press for either attack or defense is much tighter than it was in City as well, in short: the fighting system is better in Origins.
The boss battles so far have been awesome, the game is slightly harder than City which is VERY welcomed and adds more depth to playing.
All the side missions and crime watch etc. are all great
Basically, the game is the same as City with new game play/villains/things to do and explore...the only 2 reasons it is not as good as City are the technical reasons that could EASILY be fixed with a patch, if they would just do it.. I love the game, it is every bit as fun and addictive as its predecessor, I still have trouble quitting the game when I know I should stop playing, it's just too much fun to stop. Gamespot's review is worthless.
UPDATE: Glitches are now fixed! The best edition to the Arkham series to date!
