A terribly dull Batman game. Only high point is the Joker himself.
First of all, Batman as a character is absolutely and completely useless in this game. Worst. Dialogue. Ever. Seriously who the hell thought it was a good idea to have that voice actor to do Batman? Only dialogue that was tolerable, and a lot of times even funny, was the Jokers.
So I'm really a story guy and this game just disappointed me to no end when it came to story. When I finally came to the games end I had only finished 20-25% of the game..? So I started with the side missions and I could not, for my life, understand why they didn't just flesh out the main story instead? Making it exceptional instead of just half assing it.I felt like I was robbed of the final moments of the game because they just came all too early and didn't have an impact. I didn't LOVE GTA 4 but at least they made a well written and big story within their open world where as this game completely failed in every aspect. I got at least 30+ hrs out of GTA without doing any side missions, now that's a story. They just focused on the wrong things.
This takes me to the gameplay and oh my god. Incredibly buggy and stiff. And my god was this game ever so easy. I mean, if you've never played a game before you expect to do a lot of trial and error, especially when the game focus on stealth gameplay like this one. But don't worry, you wont even have to be very stealthy, just jump down on a dude, kill him off and then up among the gargoyles and "disappear". Terrible. I did this, and only this, and I died maybe... 2-3 times through the game? And don't get me started on the combat sequences. Just stand there, press triangle and let them kill themselves. Easy. Well, in a bad way of course. Where's the challenge? Come on.
I'm so glad Infinite just came out, I'm going back to that for a second playthrough now. In 1999 mode, which actually IS HARD AND GIVES YOU A CHALLENGE.
IF you haven't bought it yet then please don't. Don't believe the hype and all these Batman fans that praise it to the heavens.
