Before we start I'm going to this once and only once...Baten Kaitos is not a Final Fantasy wantabe so get that idea out of your head. That being said, Baten Kaitos stands above many of the recently released RPGs in that it is a truly different in its battle system and the way that you move about the world map. The "card based" (and I use that term lighly) battle system provides you with the chance to make the battle more fun than in an ordinary RPG with the usual choice of either Magic or Attack. In this system it is much more complicated. For details on this system check either Gamespot's or IGN's reviews of the game. I will say however that this system works great and is a whole lot of fun. In fact it makes the game fun by learning to line up awesome combos to deal out massive damage. The visuals of this game definitetly is one of it's excellent attributes. The soundtrack also, a wonderful combination of orchestral, ethnic, and small techno pieces, is to die for. Seriously folks, I had to go out and buy the thing....it's that good. You will encounter lush landscapes and be serenaded by some of the best music in the gaming realm. If you have a Game Cube I suggest that you go out and purchase Baten Kaitos now. You owe it to yourself to give this sure to be classic a try.
