Great physics don't make up for a game that is lacking everywhere else.

User Rating: 5.5 | Backbreaker X360
The Euphoria engine has the potential to bring a lot to the football gaming world but Backbreaker simply doesn't bring enough to the table to make this a good game. Once you get past the excellent physics you find a game with very little depth. It feels more like a tech demo to display the game engine than a full game.

The offensive AI is horrible. I'm able to easily shut down the top offenses in the game on pro/hard difficulty using the worst defenses. The computer has averaged 5-6 thrown interceptions per game in the games I've played and their running game is even worse.

The camera angle does a lot to bring you close to the action which is great on defense but it doesn't work well on offense, especially in the outside running game.

There are many gamebreaking bugs that you have to deal with also. I've seen roughing the passer called 5 straight plays and the only way to stop it is to call a play from your base defense. Twice I've scored TDs on passes only to have the game not give me the points and give the ball to the computer at the 20 yard line as if it was a touchback.

Overall this game doesn't live up to the hype. The Euphoria engine is great and has much potential but the gameplay is severly lacking. They would have been better off if they offered tackle alley as an arcade game instead of trying to put out a full game with no depth to it.
