Great Scott! This is heavy.

User Rating: 7.5 | Back to the Future: The Game - Episode I: It's About Time PS3
This game drew my attention definitely because of the brand. Back to the Future was and is one of my all time favorite film series. This game is a worthy successor to the franchise and an entertaining story in its own right.
This game is downloadable from PSN as a bundle and delivered in 5 date released episodic installments. In the game you play as the film series titular character Marty McFly. It's 6 months after the events of Back to the Future 3 and you awake to find that Doc Brown's stuff is being auctioned off by the bank due to unpaid debts. Marty takes it upon himself to protect Doc's legacy mainly by keeping his time travel secrets out of the hands of Biff Tannen. Upon discovering Doc's notebook, Marty is surprised by the arrival of a driverless Delorean (ostensibly the same time machine from the films). Marty must then take on the mission of locating Doc Brown in history and helping him out of whatever predicament he's gotten into this time. The gameplay mechanics are old-school point and click adventure. On the PS3 version you use the toggles to manuever Marty around Hill Valley thru the ages. Certain objects will highlight and can be sorted thru using the left and right triggers and selected by hitting the X button. Marty usually has some informative, funny or historical quip to one line about anything selectable. You collect certain objects in your travels that are accessible in your inventory, which you can then use to solve puzzles or get people to perform actions you need. The walking mechanics and the inventory system can be a bit clunky at times but its more of a minor annoyance than anything. The puzzles and scenarios range from easy to moderately difficult. Overall the game is worth a play for anyone who is fan of the Back to the Future series. The game is full of great 1980's references and funny moments that pay tribute to the films. All of the characters in the game are cartoon stylized versions of the films actors. The voice of Doc is faithfully reprised by the original actor Christopher Lloyd and the voice of Jennifer is done by the actress who portrayed her in the original film, Claudia Wells. New comer to professional voice acting A.J. Locascio does a spot on voice impersation of young Michael J. Fox. This game may not be a technical wonder but it is definitely a great experience for the story alone, even if the gameplay mechanics are not the best.
