Everything an RPG should be Great game that will always be one of my favorites...
Graphics: Not unbearable but still... not pretty in any form except in its own quirky way in which you have to like it.
Sound: have not played it in awhile but if i rember it was decent if not better
Setting: a small town named Monsbaia out side of the "monster tower"
Story: the son of a famous monster hunter named Guy (seriously) you are destined to grow up to be great, but when your father fails to come home after entering the tower and only his familiar (pet monster) comes back you start out at the age of 15 ,the day of your manhood. you go to the tower and one of your fathers old familiar's is there the two of you join up and... (i would go on but as a said it has been a couple of months since i played the game & due to a bad head injury my memory is not what it used to be and the game's story is very complex with multiple plot twists)
Gameplay: the game is an interisting mix of turn based battles in the monster tower, and romantic,social,and economic development in the main town. the system of familar (monster) recruitment is an interesting one in which you find eggs in the tower you have 3 options, 1: you can hatch the egg immediatly instantly gaining a new compatriot....however the downside to this is the fact that you will only be able to use your new pet while your in the tower (as in you lose him forever once you leave), 2: you can wait until you leave the tower and hatch it at your home (you can keep it forever (unless you want to sell it), or 3: leave the tower and sell it (eggs are worth more than hatched monsters). Also the methods of leaving the tower are interesting you can use a wind crystal (cannot be bought in town but rather have to be found which might be hard because they are kind of rare) or you can use a fruit which sacrifices one of your monsters to exit the tower. the town you live in is very interesting in the fact you can alter it by buying buildings and putting them in it. there are also 6 or 8 ( i cannot rember) romantic situations you can get involved in..... I could go on and on but im sleepy
