This game is overwhelmingly mediocre as a single player. The real fun it offers is for multiplayer gaming.

I have to admit that I purchased this game with the hopes that it would be along the same vein as the old school arcade game Track and Field. That might be dating myself.

The graphics are fine, nothing special, but average. The announcers have very little to say, and repeat themselves. As a single player game, the play can become repetitive. Also, there are some events which seem almost too challenging (can SOMEONE tell me how on earth to actually hit a pigeon during skeet shooting. No matter how I time it, I always miss). I will say that I like the custom feature, which allows you to omit any event which you do not wish to play.

However, this is a good game to break out if you happen to have a group of people with you and you just wish to have some friendly competition. This is the element of Track and Field that was so enjoyable, and it is present for this game as well.

Overall, this game is not putrid, but not a favorite either. I would not wholeheartedly recommend to buy it, but if you see it on sale go for it. I do recommend it as a rental if you are going to have a group of friends over. There is some fun to be had there.
