One of the better of the recent release of RPGs in the last year!

User Rating: 8.9 | Iris no Atelier: Eternal Mana 2 PS2
I'll comment on the graphics first. First of all, just like Atelier Iris 2, it has 2d sprites, but now you don't get into fights in the world map. It's no longer a 3d world map, and kind of reminds me of the one in FF Tactics. I don't know what the complaint about re-using sprites from the first game was, it doesn't even bother me! In fact, there's only one boss that has been re-used from the last game, and it works out great. And about 1/4 of the enemies use the same sprites from the last game. But all the characters are new, and don't use any sprites from the old game, well, maybe Vise, but I'll doublecheck later.
As for the battle system, it's turned out about the same as the first one, maybe a little better, because now you can actually synthesize the good weapons. Also, later in the game, you can have not one, but two alchemists in your battle party! The only thing better than that is 3!
Now on to the music: I absolutely LOVE the music in both this game and its prequel. The intro song to this game and its prequel are absolutely breathtaking and foretells the adventures that lie ahead if you press the start button. They somehow blended magical chants into their songs, which make it, well...magical, and unique. Boy, I've longed for the dramatic tempos that come with boss battles, and this game does lots of justice! It's been a while since I've tapped my foot and banged my head to any rpg beats. Also, the music goes just right with the progression of the story. It makes the recently released rpg's soundtrack sound half-assed. I've NEVER got tired of any tracks in the game, even on the save screen.
And now for the storyline and plot: It is definitely well written, and had the right music track to add to the emotions and mood. It will definitely play with your emotions, frequently. This game also has plenty of twists, and I hope you like them as much as I did.
So all in all, I'll give this game a 9/10. If you haven't already gotten the game...SHAME ON YOU!!!
