Assassin's Creed is a good game overall, but it loses focus on assassination, and isn't always well polished.

Assassin's Creed is a good game for anyone looking for a good game. But don't let the title fool you. In the game you play as Altair, a disgraced assassin. The tutorial of the game places heavy emphasis on following "The Creed" which basically says "Kill your target, don't be seen". The meat of the game, however, defies this. Most of your real action in the game is NOT found in stalking your target, killing him, and getting out, contrary to the game's original depiction of Altair. Rather, most of the game will be spent fighting mobs of guards with rather repetitive combat sequences. Lock on, guard, counter, slash, slash, repeat. On the bright side, the game looks spectacular, and there is plenty to do, collect, and see in this rendition of the holy land in the 15th century. Missions can get repetitive as well, as there are really only 5 primary objectives, and 2 secondary objectives in any mission, of which there are 9. The world is huge, and you can get a feel for what seems to be a really nice concept, that wasn't quite implemented as it should have been. The social indicator could have been a real asset to the game, but the flashy combat driven system seems to contradict its purpose of reminding you to stay hidden. The final (and possibly most game breaking, at least for a few players) problem with Assassin's Creed is that the saving system that the game implements can sometimes glitch up, and leave you stranded in a place where you can't finish your current mission, not can you proceed to the next. The only work around I know of for this problem is a complete game restart (with a new save file). Try Assassin's Creed, but don't expect to feel like an assassin, and watch out for glitches (which seem more deadly than the real enemies).
