A sleek, well produced platformer with alot of heart and entertaining gameplay, though it could've been a bit longer...

User Rating: 9 | Assassin's Creed II: Discovery DS
Just because its on the DS doesn't mean it isn't an awesome game. Assassin's Creed 2: Discovery is a sick platformer/action game with some very nice gameplay elements and an interesting story.

Pros:
-Fast! I read a review somewhere stating that this game is like a Sonic game. Its true in a way, because you pick up speed and move quickly in the game, but only if you want. This can lead to interesting challenges and some very nice momentum-based kills.

-Platformer. The fact that its a solid platformer on the DS is reason enough to play. I enjoy a great platformer and in my opinion there aren't enough on the system. At least now I have something worthy to play!

-Brings Me Back. Ahhh, the good old days. I remember playing Prince of Persia on my GBA and I stayed up long into the night. This game shares similarities with that game, but is still a true Assassin's Creed experience.

-Cutscenes. Though they may not be super great, at least they all have voice acting, and its superbly done too. No voice sounds cheesy or over-worked, but instead flow smoothly and add some extra polish to the game.

-Gameplay. One of the things that makes a platformer great is how it works. You can run, sprint, jump, climb walls (slowly and quickly), run up walls, roll, do back flips, leap from wall to wall similar to Mario, dodge enemy attacks by moving behind or in front of them, sneak around, crouch, among other moves. Your character feels very real and the environment feels life-like, even more so than in a Tomb Raider game. And when you kill enemies, depending on which buttons you push, where you are standing, even how fast you're going, the kill is different. When you sneak up behind enemies you can kill them and watch a cinematic and glorious close up view of it. It's really cool. Very neat stuff.

-Music. If you've heard Jesper Kyd's work on the other games, then you'll recognize the music here too, as its the exact same.

Cons:
-Sound. You might be happier playing with headphones, because sometimes you can't really hear the music. I love music in games, so I prefer to hear it clearly.

-Length. The game could be finished in around 10 hours, though to get a higher score in each mission you sometimes have to go back and try again.

In the end its a fun game. Don't knock it or have your doubts simply because its on the DS, which some might view as a "kids system". This game is certainly entertaining and definately not designed for children, though I doubt they wouldn't have just as much fun at it as you.
