You'll finally be able to bring your old Pokemon into X and Y from December 27

Pokemon Bank and Poke Teleporter will launch on the 3DS eShop on December 27.

Pokemon Bank will launch on the 3DS eShop on December 27, The Pokemon Company has announced.

The app will allow users to manage up to 3000 Pokemon in their own private cloud space, which does mean the application will require an Internet connection to use. But the app also comes with Poke Transporter, which will allow users to bring their old Pokemon from Pokemon Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 into Pokemon X and Y.

It's possible to glimpse what appears to be Generation III Pokemon--like Sceptile--in the video, too. You might want to PokeTransfer your collection from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver to Black and White in advance.

Anyone who downloads Pokemon Bank between December 27, 2013 and January 31, 2014 will receive a 30-day trial of the service for free. After that, the Pokemon Bank will cost $4.99/£4.49/€4.99 a year.

I'm going to be cynical here and say this Nintendo eShop is becoming a slippery slope...

Again just me being cynical.

still need to do the emergency battery swap for my mons on my red. I know they could die at any time but I'm too scared to do it.

The biggest issue I can see is with children who play the game, loading their Pokemon into the bank and then losing access to them because the parents either have no idea what's going on or are just unwilling to pay for the service.

Hopefully there is a 'restore' option like HeartGold and SoulSilver had with the Pokewalker.

I'm sure we have all the time we need to transfer all those Pokemon from the old gens in the free month we have. IDK why people are complaining? And not like we're actually going to hold 3,000 Pokemon

They need to charge money to pay for the server - the previous transfer methods were using wireless or the DS's GBA slot, so they didn't cost Game Freak anything to maintain. It's not perfect, but it's not ridiculous greed either. I mean, I normally HATE subscription services and even I can barely work myself up to care about five dollars a year.

I'll use the free trial to get everyone from my DS games into my copy of Y. If I like the service enough I might go ahead and pay the five bucks so I can store pre-evolutions in the bank. Then I'll have a complete Pokedex ready to go for Gen 7 without the usual egg-hatching and evolving.

I make lots of Money and $5 bucks ain't shit to me anyway. Hell I pay Xbox Gold and PS+ [I only pay Gold 1-yr for 29.99 mind you] but 5 bucks for a year to use PokeBank is a walk in the park for me.

Why the hell are they charging us now for a feature that used to be free? I swear companies are too greedy for their own good nowadays.

I wish Nintendo would make 1 box out of the 100 free to use. The Transfer app requires the bank, so essentially, both are paid apps, not free. However, transferring was free to use from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum through Black 2/White 2. Nintendo's now charging us to use a feature that used to be free.

Make 1 box available for free, giving us just enough space to use the Transfer app and save the subscription charge for those who actually want to store more than 1000 Pokemon. We didn't have to pay to use Pal Park in previous games, so we shouldn't have to pay to transfer now.

Most of you guys should know by now, but the in-game character in charge of the PokeBank shall be Brigette. To those who don't know, she was a character from Hoenn (3rd gen games). Maybe another, of many signs in Pokemon X and Y. That the 3rd gen remakes are on the works?

Shame already beat both x and y so kinda bored with them now.

There are Pokemon from December 27th?  I thought they were from Nintendo.

@Darth_Aloysius They just unified the accounts (WiiU and 3DS) to a nintendo ID system, so it's becoming pretty stable.

@StickyJr1 I doubt a kid that young would care really about transferring there pokemon.

@Kaiser499 it's a better feature (they can store your pokemon and you can transfer more than just 6, up to a box) and to store your pokemon they have to use the cloud, which cost money. $5 a year is less than what someone usually spends a week.

You're right: 40 cents a month could go a long way towards fulfilling my wishes at the local wishing well.

@HonorOfGod that's why I backup my saves on my PC. I'll pick up a used copy at gamestop and use it to upload my Pokemon from Black 2, then I'll return it for a refund.

Dannystaples14

@Richardthe3rd It makes you wonder why they would bother. Are Nintendo really that hard up that they need to scramble small change from the kids that will inevitably have to have this app.

Dannystaples14
Dannystaples14

@Stebsis It is the principle of it. An app that is used to store pokemon? It isn't like it is integral to the device or game and they know that millions and millions of kids are going to want to use it.

In the process they make millions for something that should be in the game to start with like it has in every Pokemon since Blue?

@gamerboy100 @chrisall76

Put your pokemon in the last game? Wait, pokemon is going to die off some time this century or something? Not likely.

chrisall76
chrisall76

@Dannystaples14 @Richardthe3rd Nintendo is basally the one of the big 3 with the most money, and $5 a year is for the cloud. Yea sure they could add it to the game again but this is future proof, instead of having to trade between 2 DSes you only need one and you don't need to go through a line of games to get your pokemon to the latest version.

Stebsis
Stebsis

@Dannystaples14@Stebsis Of course they know millions of kids are going to want this... and that's the point, business 101 how to make money. Why are you making it out like it's bad thing? It's still just 5 bucks to cover stuff like server costs etc. and make money out of it.
