Xbox One Versions of Halo: Reach, ODST On Microsoft's Radar

This November's Halo: The Master Chief Collection will include updated versions of Halo 1-4. But what about Halo 3: ODST (2009) and Halo: Reach (2010)? Could we some day see remastered versions of those games for Xbox One? It's possible, 343 Industries executive producer Dan Ayoub told VideoGamer in a new interview.

"What I can tell you is probably the biggest question we get from people is, what about ODST and Reach?" he said. "What I can say is it's certainly not in our development timeline or planning right now [but] we've heard that question so much that it has seeped into our collective subconscious. I think enough people have asked about it that we are thinking about it."

ODST and Reach (free on Xbox 360 right now) are part of the overall Halo saga, but they don't feature Master Chief. That's part of the reason why the games were left out of the Master Chief Collection, Ayoub said. "With Halo 5 coming out we really wanted to focus on those Master Chief-centric games," he explained.

Another deciding factor was the issue of disc space. "We're squeezing everything we can out of the available space for this thing," Ayoub said about The Master Chief Collection.

Even without ODST and Reach, The Master Chief Collection puts other greatest-hits compilations to shame, GameSpot editor Shaun McInnis argues. The bundle includes the four remastered games-- complete with online and local multiplayer support--as well as access to Ridley Scott's Halo: Nightfall show, and a key to December's Halo 5: Guardians beta.
