Xbox One doesn't support 3D Blu-rays
Playback won't be supported for launch, though Microsoft is open to adding the feature down the road.
The Xbox One will not support 3D Blu-ray playback, at least not at launch, a Microsoft representative has confirmed with GameSpot sister site CNET.
However, it is possible that 3D Blu-ray playback could be added in the future, the representative said. The Xbox One is Microsoft's first console to feature a built-in Blu-ray player.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 supports 3D games and 3D Blu-ray movies. As CNET points out, the PS4 will support the playback of 3D games, though none will be available at launch. The official PS4 FAQ makes no mention at all of support for the playback of 3D movies.
The Xbox One launches next Friday, November 22, for $500. GameSpot will have more coverage of the next-generation console leading up to release.
