JoWood Entertainment has announced that its upcoming real-time strategy game World War III: Black Gold will be available in stores on September 24. The game takes place in the near future, when oil supplies are limited and political tensions are high. The combination of factors proves to be too great for the industrialized nations to bear, and they declare World War III.

Players command one of three factions--the Americans, the Russians, or the Iraqis--each of which has a different set of units based on its real-world counterpart. In addition to engaging in combat, players can build new units and structures, exploit resources, and conduct research and development of new technologies.

World War III: Black Gold was developed by Reality Pump, the team behind Earth 2150 and The Moon Project, and it will arrive in stores later this month with an approximate retail price of $39.95. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
