A motivated fan remade WoW's Westfall area in UE4.

World of Warcraft has been out for over ten years, and even though it has improved dramatically since its release, it still shows its age. Now, you can see what World of Warcraft might have looked like if it had been made in Unreal Engine 4.

One fan, YouTube user Daniel L, decided to remake World of Warcraft's Westfall location in the engine, redoing the environment and making it look pretty amazing. In the video of the build, the player enters the area from Elwynn Forest, showing off Westfall in 1080p and 60 frames per second. The hills of grain and waving grass are particularly beautiful, as is the day/night cycle.

Here's what the area looks like in World of Warcraft:

According to the description of the video, Daniel L made this scene using textures from Unreal demos and models pulled from World of Warcraft itself.

This is still an early build of the area, and it isn't his first attempt at recreated a WoW location, either. Back in May he released a video showing off Elwynn Forest running in UE4.

Fans have been using Unreal Engine 4 for some interesting projects. One YouTube user even posted an impressive demo of Mario running in UE4. A different user worked with UE4 and created near-photorealistic scenes.
