2016 promises to be the year of the superhero showdown. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in March, and soon after, Captain America and Iron man will be facing off in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War. The first trailer has now been released--check it out here:

In addition to the trailer, three new posters have been released. Click below to see full size versions:

The film will arrive in cinemas on May 6, 2016, and tells the story of the conflict between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, following government registration of superhero activity. As the trailer shows, other heroes from the Marvel universe also play a part in the fight, including Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Black Panther, and The Vision.

The big omission from the trailer is Spider-Man, who is expected to make his Marvel Universe debut in Civil War, before headlining his own movie in 2017.

Captain America: Civil War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who helped turn the second Captain America movie, 2014's The Winter Soldier, into a $700 million smash. It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd.
