Warcraft Movie Lead Hadn't Heard of Game Before Signing On

Travis Fimmel, who plays one of the lead roles in next month's video game movie Warcraft, does not play games and had never heard of the Warcraft franchise before agreeing to play Anduin Lothar.

"I needed a job," Fimmel said with a laugh in an interview with The Red Bulletin.

The Vikings star also said he did not realize how much green-screen acting he would be doing for Warcraft.

"To be honest, I had no idea what I was getting myself into," he said about the process. "It is such a different way of acting, not talking to someone sometimes. You're actually talking to air. It's hard. I bloody suck at it."

Another Warcraft actor, Robert Kazinsky (Ogrim), has a different story. He is a diehard World of Warcraft player; in fact, he credits the game with saving his life.

Fimmel is not the only actor in a video game movie who was not very familiar with the source material before signing on. Michael Fassbender, who plays the lead role in Assassin's Creed, also had never played the game before agreeing to appear in the movie.
