Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is now arriving in retail stores. The company called Warcraft III "the fastest-selling PC game ever" and said that it received initial orders for the expansion pack totaling 2.5 million units.

"We're really excited that people are now able to pick up a copy of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and start playing the complete game," said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard president and cofounder. "We've introduced a wide array of new units, heroes, and upgrades specifically designed to enhance each race, and we look forward to hearing players' reactions to these new features."

The Frozen Throne picks up the saga of war-torn Azeroth several months after the events that concluded Warcraft III, and the undead, night elf, and human campaigns focus on the struggle to find the mysterious powers buried in the icy northern continent. The separate orc campaign offers a very different experience, with RPG-style gameplay. The expansion will add four race-specific heroes and five neutral heroes, plus two new units per race.

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne has a suggested retail price of $34.99. We'll have a full review of the expansion soon. For more details, check out our previous coverage of the expansion.
