Warcraft III beta sign-ups open

Those interested in testing Blizzard's next real-time strategy game can now submit an application.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it is now accepting applications for the upcoming beta test of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game. Those interested in participating in the test can sign-up through 11:00pm PT Friday, January 11, 2002. Testers will not be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, and multiple entries from the same household will result in complete disqualification. Approximately 5,000 testers will be selected from the pool of qualified applicants. Blizzard will notify those selected to participate in the beta test over the course of the next several weeks. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is the next game in Blizzard's popular Warcraft real-time strategy series. The new game will include a number of improvements, including a new 3D engine, hero units, and four playable races. The game is scheduled for release in mid-2002.
