Flag-planting PC gamers will get a chance to claim new land, as GameSpot is now hosting the demo for Age of Empires III: WarChiefs, the first expansion to the real-time strategy game Age of Empires III. The demo is available at GameSpot Downloads.

The 517MB sample features the first two single-player missions that continue the saga of the Black family. There will be two playable factions to choose from--the Germans or the all-new Iroquois Confederation. Players' persistent home cities can be improved across multiple games as they explore the California coast in the colonial days.

The full version of the game, which hits stores on October 17, will support eight players and have a trio of playable Native American factions, including the Sioux Nation and Aztec Empire. New units and buildings will also be added to all playable sides.

Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs is rated T for Teen and will retail for $29.99. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
