Interplay sports division VR Sports shipped VR Baseball 2000 this week, the company announced. VR Sports licensed the Messiah engine from Shiny Entertainment to power the game's animations and graphics. (In the game, clothing creases and muscles flex, qualities that VR Sports ascribes to the Messiah engine.)

Anaheim Angels' outfielder and first baseman Darin Erstad consulted with VR Sports in the creation of the title, which the company says was created "with the baseball purist in mind." The game is "specifically created for those who appreciate an AI smart enough to know that big hitters don't bunt, pitchers are pulled when they get shelled, and fielders are strategically shifted in given situations," VR Sports says.
