The skins, which offer no in-game benefits, can be obtained through random drops or by opening dropped weapon cases with a purchasable key. Money generated through eSports weapon cases and keys will be used to bolster the prize pot at future competitions.

Valve adds that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive weapon skins, crates, and keys, can be bought and sold via the Steam Marketplace.

Alongside the cosmetic items, the silenced versions of the M4A1 and the USP have also been added to the game.

Valve adds that it is planning to allow users to create their own weapon decorations via the Steam Workshop, as it already does for Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2. "We're working on shipping that feature as soon as possible," said the update FAQ.
