Infogrames has launched the official Web site for its upcoming first-person shooter Unreal II. The Web site features new information on and screenshots from the game, which is currently in development at Legend Entertainment. Unreal II is the sequel to the original Unreal, which was developed by Epic Games and released in late 1998. The new game is set in the same universe as the original, but it will take place around a different group of planets. Players will assume the role of a Terran Colonial Authority Frontier Marshal, the deep space equivalent of a sheriff in the Wild West, and they must locate and protect a series of powerful artifacts before they fall into enemy hands.

The game will feature a wide variety of alien enemies, including the skaarj predators that appeared in the original Unreal; shian warriors, which are floating crablike creatures; and izarian hunters, six-limbed creatures with razor-sharp teeth. The single-player campaign will include 13 missions, encompassing 25 different levels. The levels will be made up of several different environments ranging from underground caverns and thick rainforests to volcanic worlds and enemy starships.

For more information, take a look at our Unreal II preview and visit the new official Web site. Unreal II is scheduled for release in March 2002.
