The video game movie is almost here.

If you've watched TV this month, you've probably seen a commercial for the upcoming video game movie, Assassin's Creed. Prepare to see more, as Fox has rolled out two new TV spots for the film.

I prefer the second one, which starts with Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkin (Jeremy Irons) talking about advancements in technology leading up to the Animus. "1917, we split the atom. 1953, we find the double helix." In 2016, it's possible to re-live the lives of our ancestors through the virtual reality-like Animus machine, according to the Assassin's Creed fiction. Check out both TV spots below.

In other news, Assassin's Creed star Michael Fassbender recently talked about how he treated the movie's cast and crew to a paintball shootout on the film's set. Someone rushed him and shot him at close range, leaving what he described as hickey-like welts on his neck and face. Fassbender also had an air guitar battle with Jimmy Fallon--and I think the actor definitely won.

Assassin's Creed opens on December 21. In addition to Fassbender and Irons, the film stars Marion Cotillard, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Brendan Gleeson. It was directed by Justin Kurzel, who directed Fassbender and Cotillard in Macbeth.

Earlier this week, Ubisoft's Azaïzia Aymar predicted that Assassin's Creed will buck the trend of video game movies being mediocre or worse.

"I really think it's going to be a milestone movie," he said. "It's going to be the very first time that a video game studio creative works with movie creatives altogether to share a vision and give them the tool to express themselves; rather than have an adaptation. There's going to be a 'before and after Assassin's Creed movie' for sure."

Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Assassin's Creed in the days ahead.
