Take-Two Interactive and Breakaway Games have announced their upcoming island management strategy game expansion, Tropico: Paradise Island. The expansion will add a number of new features to the real-time strategy game Tropico, including more than 20 new scenarios, new tourist attractions and military structures, and new people and vehicles.

Tropico, which was developed by PopTop Software and released in April, lets players assume the role of the dictator of a small tropical island nation. Players must manage the economic, social, political, and military aspects of the country. Tropico: Paradise Island gives players a new set of challenges, such as tropical storms, hoof and mouth disease, and red tide. The expansion features new visitor attractions including beach villas, tennis courts, and nature preserves, as well as new military structures like colonial forts, army bases, and dungeons. In addition, the expansion features new characters such as the eco tourist and the spring break tourist, as well as a number of gameplay enhancements such as full rotation of many buildings, more powerful martial law, and faster construction.

Tropico: Paradise Island is in development at Breakaway Games, the studio that created Sid Meier's Anteitam. The expansion is scheduled for release in January. For more information, read our full review of Tropico and visit the official PopTop Web site.
