Top 10 Movies at the US Box Office This Weekend
The numbers are in.
Disney's newest animated movie, Moana, was the No. 1 movie at the US box office again this weekend, bringing in an estimated $28.4 million, helping Disney set a new industry record.
Entertainment Weekly, which has all the numbers, reported that Moana's strong performance helped push Disney's domestic box office haul this year to $2.49 billion. This beats the US box office record set by Universal in 2015 ($2.45 billion), which benefited from the release of Jurassic World.
Disney's lead will only grow further this month, as Star Wars: Rogue One is scheduled to come out on December 16 behind massive box office projections.
Rounding out the top five films at the US box office this weekend were Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Arrival, Allied, and Doctor Strange. Overall, domestic box office receipts are up 4 percent year-over-year. Below are the box office estimates for December 2-4:

- Arrival - $7.3 million
- Allied - $7 million
- Doctor Strange - $6.5 million
- Trolls - $4.6 million
- Hacksaw Ridge - $3.4 million
- Bad Santa 2 - $3.3 million
- Incarnate - $2.7 million
- Almost Christmas - $2.5 million
