As the May 12 unveiling of the next-generation Xbox nears, another major publisher has announced it is developing games for the platform. This morning, THQ announced it was supporting Microsoft's forthcoming console.

Specifically, THQ said two of its internal studios, real-time strategy specialists Relic Entertainment (Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War) and shooter developer Volition (The Punisher), were "leading" the publisher's development effort for the console, now most commonly referred to as the Xbox 360. While it did not name any titles, the company did say it was working on "exclusive content for the new system."

"Microsoft's next-generation technology will enable a level of realism never before experienced by gamers," said Jack Sorensen, executive vice president of THQ's worldwide studios. "The teams at Relic and Volition have been working closely with the development team at Microsoft to ensure that our titles utilize the new system to its fullest potential."
