Waititi's Star Wars movie is still in the works, but we don't know much about it.

Thor director Taika Waititi is directing a Star Wars movie, and he's now provided another update on what fans can expect, but it's still early days and he doesn't have much to say just yet. Speaking to Variety, Waititi said, "It will be... dramatic pause... a Taika Waititi film."

Waititi joked, "It's gonna piss people off."

Waititi previously said his Star Wars movie was "still marinating." He is not only directing the movie but also writing it, and with the WGA strike now over, he is free to get back to work on it.

In May, Waititi said his Star Wars movie was still early in the development process, adding that he had a "really good idea for it." Before this, Waititi said his Star Wars movie will have an element of sincerity to it, as many of his films do. He said of the movie in 2021, "I like to fool the viewer into thinking, 'Ha it's this' and then them going, 'Damn it, you made me feel something!'"

While Waititi's Star Wars movie might not be here anytime soon, a new Star Wars film that brings back Daisy Ridley as Rey is coming up next. After that will come new Star Wars films from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold and The Mandalorian's Dave Filoni.

Waititi's latest movie is Next Goal Wins, a film about the true story of how an American Samoa soccer team lost a World Cup qualifying match to Australia by a score of 31-0. The movie hits theaters in the US on November 17.

Some of Waititi's most successful early projects included What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. He reached a new level of success with Thor: Ragnarok, before picking up an Academy Award for JoJo Rabbit.

In other news, Waititi recently said if Marvel should go ahead with making Thor 5, he won't be involved. Waititi said he's too busy with other projects, and added that he won't feel bad if Marvel elects to choose someone else to direct a potential fifth Thor movie.
