Electronic Arts has announced The Sims House Party Expansion Pack, an add-on for its popular virtual life game, The Sims. The House Party Expansion Pack will feature new characters, architecture styles, activities, music, and objects, as well as other improvements. The expansion is geared toward social activities, and it features architectural styles and objects that make it possible to throw an underground rave party, a country-style barn dance, and a tropical luau. In addition, each theme includes several types of costumes, clothing, and decorative items. Some of the new items featured in the expansion include a dance floor, a full buffet setup complete with caterer, a giant cake, and a mechanical bull.

Electronic Arts released The Sims: Livin' Large, the previous expansion pack for The Sims, last September. The company has sold more than 500,000 copies of the expansion since that time. The Sims was released in February 2000 and continues to top sales charts around the world. The virtual life game was also chosen by GameSpot as the PC Game of the Year for 2000. The Sims: House Party is scheduled for release this spring.
