The Original Star Wars Toys Are Being Rereleased Complete With Retro Packaging

Hasbro is releasing a multipack of Star Wars toys, based on the A New Hope toys by Kenner.

In the late-70s, the very first Star Wars toys were produced by Kenner, and for Star Wars Day 2022, Hasbro has announced they are releasing a multipack of characters inspired by that original wave of toys. And yes, the lightsabers slide into the arms of Darth Vader and the very blonde Luke Skywalker once again.

Available late this May, the Star Wars: Retro Collection A New Hope Collectible Multipack will retail for $69 and consist of six figures from A New Hope: Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Han Solo. Sorry to fans of Ben Kenobi, the droids, Jawas, or the other figures from the original first wave that didn't make the cut.

The packaging is reminiscent of an age when "Kenner" was stamped onto the packaging, and an image of the character from the movie appeared in the background. Check out some images of the toys and packaging below.

Much like the original Star Wars toys, these are 3.75-inch-scale toys, modeled after their looks in each movie. The multipack comes with the previously mentioned six figures and six "entertainment-inspired accessories." They will be available for pre-order on May 26 on HasbroPulse.com and ShopDisney.com.

If you want to pick these up earlier, they will be available at Disneyland Resort in California on May 25. They'll also be available at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando at a later date.

There should be a few fun announcements on May 4--Star Wars Day--so keep your eyes peeled. Leading up to it, there's a report that lightsabers are coming back to Fortnite for the sci-fi holiday.
