The Last Of Us Prequel Show About Frank And Bill Pitched To HBO, Nick Offerman Says

Nick Offerman, who appeared in HBO's The Last of Us and won his first Emmy on Sunday evening for his portrayal of Bill, has revealed that a prequel series about the post-apocalypse lovers Bill and Frank has been pitched. Offerman told Deadline that the team is "not short on ideas" for a prequel series about the lives of Bill and Frank before they met, fell in love, and died together.

"I would have to ask somebody with a higher pay grade than myself," he said. "It certainly has been pitched. I think we pitched a whole mini-series of a prequel of their lives before they met each other. It could be a musical. We're not short on ideas. We'll just we'll see what Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] come up with."

Offerman won the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Bill, marking Offerman's first Emmy award. Offerman was not even supposed to be in The Last of Us, as the role of Bill was originally given to Con O'Neill before he had to drop out due to scheduling issues.

Murray Bartlett played Frank in the fan-favorite episode, "Long, Long Time." As mentioned, this episode was mainly a flashback to when Bill met Frank, and how their unlikely love began and grew over the years. The episode drew high praise from fans and critics alike. Even director Steven Spielberg wrote a letter to The Last of Us' Craig Mazin praising that episode specifically.

The Last Of Us won many awards at the Creative Arts Emmys. In addition to Offerman's win, Storm Reid took home the award for Guest Actress in a Drama series, along with wins for visual effects, sound editing, makeup, and more.

The Last of Us Season 2 begins filming in February, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey coming back to portray Joel and Ellie again, respectively. Pascal was up Best Actor in a TV Drama alongside Kieran Culkin from Succession. Culkin won, and in his acceptance speech, he joked, "Suck it, Pedro."
