TGS: We Check Out Berserk

TOKYO – Ascii shows off its bloody Dreamcast title Berserk at the Tokyo Game Show. Here are early impressions.

TOKYO – We got our hands on Ascii's Berserk for the Dreamcast today, and have to admit that, at least from the portion we tried, it's not exactly what we had expected. For starters, the game is a lot faster than we had anticipated – you walk fast, and slice your way through hoards of monster even faster. And speaking of the hoards of monsters, the game throws a whole bunch of enemies at you at once, over and over. You just hack and slash your way through them all. But with the giant sword that you yield, this isn't such a big a feat.

What we played of Berserk seemed pretty solid, albeit with basic beat-em-up action. With its comic book background, there's no reason why the game shouldn't fare well with DC owners when it releases later this year.
