No Caption Provided In 1988, the Consumer Product Safety Commission banned lawn darts from stores in the United States following three deaths and hundreds of injuries associated with the backyard game. Canada prohibited retailers from selling the lawn game as well. But today, the game is making a virtual comeback, landing with 16-player support on WiiWare.

Incredible Technologies’ Target Toss Pro: Lawn Darts is now available to download for 800 Wii points ($8) from the WiiWare download hub. The title is based on what its publisher calls the “infamous backyard game” and affords players four variations on the classic lawn game: Classic Lawn Darts, 501, Cricket, and Poker Darts. Each game features a distinct scoring method and strategy for maximizing points. According to the game’s description, up to 16 players can take part in the virtual action at once using a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

The game is certainly safer inside the TV.

Also dropping on the WiiWare download space this week is Astro Bugz Revenge (700 Wii points, or $7). Up to two players can take part in the action puzzle game from Sudden Games. The title’s publisher describes the game as having a “retro vibe,” and in it, players will protect the solar system by eliminating the invaders (matching three or more of the critters). The title also sports a Revenge mode, where players can play as the nefarious bugz and wreak havoc on the defenders.

Switching to DSiWare, Nintendo added two new titles to the hub today, the first of which is Gamevil’s Zenonia (800 DSi points, or $8). The single-player role-playing game casts players as Regret, a man on a quest to learn why a demon killed his father. As is standard fare with role-playing games, Zenonia lets players choose a class at the onset of the game (paladin, warrior, or assassin) and equip their player with "hundreds" of weapon and armor possible combinations. Further, the title sports a full day/night cycle, as well as skill trees to round out its RPG elements.

The other title added to DSiWare this week is Fizz (200 DSi points, or $2). From DK-Games, the title is branded by its publisher as an "explosive" puzzle game. As for gameplay, the title tasks players with creating rings of energy to earn points. To do this, players must line up matching colors and create links between the different nodes. The bigger the rings, the more points players will earn. However, it won't be as easy as that, as outside forces like asteroids, meteor showers, and aliens will attempt to thwart player progress.
