Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that PlayStation 2 sales in Europe and other PAL territories for the first six months of the current financial year are up 25 percent over those for the same period in 2002. SCEE is confident that the PS2 will continue to enjoy strong sales this Christmas thanks to a strong lineup of exclusive games that includes the likes of Ghosthunter, Jak II: Renegade, WRC 3, EyeToy: Groove, and Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked & Loaded.

"We are going into the peak selling period with great confidence", said Chris Deering, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. "We have an outstanding range of games from our own studios and from third-party publishers this Christmas, many of whom are exclusive to the PlayStation 2. Our hugely enjoyable EyeToy game has taken the market by storm, having already sold a million copies in just 4 months, and is redefining, in a very positive manner, the way in which families perceive gaming. And, of course, we also have the smart new 'Silver' console which will accelerate the existing trend whereby gaming is increasingly moving out of the study or bedroom and into the family living room."
