Street Fighter X Tekken major patch arriving next year

The version 2013 update will address frames for normal throws, quick combos, and feature character-specific tweaks; it will be out on January 29.

Capcom has announced the release date for the update of its major 2012 fighting game title, Street Fighter X Tekken.

The color change for recoverable health is one such addition for the 2013 patch.

According to a post by producer Tomoaki Ayano, the 2013 patch will be out on January 29. Concerning general changes, the patch will make recoverable health easier to spot, as it will change its colour from light yellow to red. Life-recovery speed will be adjusted so that players will rely less on timeout victories. Normal throws will have five frames instead of seven, so that they are viable against opponents playing defensively. The entire Tekken roster will have anti-air attacks improved.

For a few examples of character-specific tweaks, Kazuya's EX version of his Wind God Fist move makes him invincible throughout the entire attack. Ryu's heavy kick crouching sweep will have seven frames instead of the original attack's five frames, and Bryan's medium and heavy versions of his Fisherman's Slam cannot hit airborne opponents. For more detailed information, check out the Capcom Unity post.

Capcom will be hosting the grand finals of the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary tournament on December 8. The games featured in the tournament include Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

I guess I will let this patch pass me by...I'm still trying to reconcile my stunning antipathy for arcade fighters...I realize that that comes as a result of contemplating the prospect of mashing through no more than five tournament brackets before the game loses it's value and ends up on ebay or back on the shelves of Gamestop, my wallet now out $45 of the $50 I spent on purchasing the game...

I need to get back to playing this again.

The mechanics of the game are soo lame, people rely on that same switch combo all the time, no matter what character they use. If you dont have this or have never played it I warn you, it does not, I repeat, it does NOT play like SF4 it's much, much worse...

PC players are still waiting for the 12 character DLC. Lame!

Hey Capcom, how about a version where we don't have to pay for that on-disc DLC bulls*** you pulled?

Its nice to see Capcom updating this game. The part where they're trying to reduce timeout wins is already great in my book.

Can anyone tell me if this game is good? I've been hearing a lot of hates from the FGC (Fighting Game Community), how and why this game sucks....

It's called the Vita version, you get all 12 fighters and 38 costumes for both the PS3 and the Vita.

So... Yeah, maybe do some research next time you badmouth a company.

@deltamirage What do you mean, i pretty shure that this game ins't strategic as before, and DLC makes really difficult to buy right now, BUT, any game is expendeble, in Brazil, my country, games cost 100$ which is equal to R$200, and we have to make good choices and play until theres nothing behind(Unless every one i know and me like to play for many time and unlock everything.)

@FuryX-4 It's a really good game spoiled by Capcom's post-release bullcrap. The Pandora power-up is marginally useful unless you're top-notch with your combos, but so far the game mechanics and fighting's rock-solid. I should warn you that like SF III: Third Strike, it's not for everyone. Check out Maximillian's vids to see the game at its best. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC63BA354E9F9CCC4&feature=plcp

I fully agree.  I've bought bad games in the past but SFxT is the only game I've truly regretted buying.  It has a lot of potential and there are times where you catch a glimpse of what it could of been.  But for the most part it's just not worth it.

@Fenixx  @Mersinary_Myth Thanks guys. Another reason why my friend who plays fighting games a lot doesn't like this game at all.
