London-based EON Digital Entertainment has announced its upcoming real-time strategy game Steel Soldiers. The game, which is being developed by Bitmap Brothers and was originally titled Z2, is a sequel to the popular 1996 strategy game Z. Players assume the role of the commander of an army of robotic warriors in an interplanetary war between two megacorporations. The game features fully 3D environments and units, as well as 30 unique missions spanning six different worlds. The game focuses on action and strategy rather than resource management. In addition, the game features humorous dialogue from the robotic units, each of which has a different personality.

Steel Soldiers is scheduled for release in late February 2001.
