Steam Holiday Sale final day ends soon with encore prices on BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and more

If you were hoping to take advantage of Steam's discount prices or the holiday trading cards, you still have some time left.

by

Today is the final day of the annual Steam Holiday Sale, marking your final chance to get discount prices on some of last year's biggest titles (at least until the Steam Summer Sale).

In what Valve is calling an encore sale of "the most popular deals from the Steam Holiday sale," you can find deep discounts like the following:

And the Snow Globe trading cards will expire soon as well. You have until 10AM PST, Thursday January 3 to craft any of the exclusive holiday items for the free-to-play games available through Steam's storefront before the cards expire

Did you take advantage of the Steam Holiday Sale (or any of the other post-Christmas deals floating around)? Tell us about your haul in the comments below!

I bought about 4 games (I still got plenty left from the last few Steam sales I caught). The sale was okay, but it could've been better. Thankfully I kinda glad I did spend so much though, lol.

this is how I know the holidays are officially over. the steam sell ends. its a sad day and I didn't even buy anything this year. I have everything I want from all the past steam sales.

I've only spent at least £2 or less on cheap indie games

I didn't buy anything, just like I had planned. I'll wait until next year when my backlog is a bit thinner and my wallet a bit thicker. I did get one game off my wishlist from one of my Steam friends and that was really nice. It was Sacred Gold, which he also bought a copy of.

Got so many games I wanted on a €30 budget.

You should use cheapshark(dot)com if you want to price compare.

Spent $170 this year on the holiday sale, fucking Gabe Newell...just can't help but throw all my god damn money at you. :(

So much for that. Steam has been DDoS attacked by DERP. Store is down, atm.

Steam is so great, say what you want about PC gaming being expensive but I built my rig for just under $800 and it runs pretty much anything I throw at it on highest at 1080p, and when you consider all the money on save on games through Steam and GoG it ends up being cheaper after a very short time.

Plus once you make that initial investment you can pay the same price as you would normally pay for one game and get 4 or 5, hell just the games mentioned above

  • BioShock: Infinite for 75% off ($9.99) -- and a BioShock Triple Pack for $15.19
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for 75% off ($7.49)
  • Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for 80% off ($5.99)
  • Borderlands 2 for 75% off ($7.49)
  • Tomb Raider for 80% off ($9.99)
  • Dishonored for 75% off ($7.49)
  • Gary's Mod for 75% off ($2.49)
  • all come to $50.50, that's the price of what people will be paying for the new "definitive" version of Tomb Raider on PS4 and X1 when I've been playing the true Definitive version for over a year now on my PC with graphics I know the new systems can't achieve, I still own a PS3 and had a 360 til it bit the dust and I'll be playing my PS3 still but for me PC gaming is the best place to be right now, big games are almost all coming to it including some console exclusives like Titan Fall and Project Spark, it has the best indie games and mods greatly improve some games.I will probably grab a PS4 sometime next year but until a game comes out I can't get on PC that I really want to play I can hold off.

I wish that I am still willing to use Steam. :(

Don't be fooled by some prices. Check the before prices. Example Tomb Raider, the game launched Mar 4th 2013 and it still sells for $49.99. Never a good idea to buy then. It shouldn't be $49.99 anymore, more like $29.99-$39.99.

I enjoyed AC 4 on PC, beautifull graphics, very well done

the best game I got and I cant believe I missed out on it at launch was Borderlands 2 GotY for like 12 Euro.

Picked up Alan Wake and DLC for $3.99 . Could not pass that up and it has full controller support.
They have Tomb Raider for $9.99 which is normally $50. Still think I will wait on that one.

Another great sale from Steam. Only problem is they don't have any more games to put on sale that would get my attention. Maybe DayZ or Prison Architect, and I'll grab XCOM next time too

@spikepigeo  They need to invent a new swear word for those guys, because the ones we have aren't strong enough.

@spikepigeoWell, that means my staying up til 3am when my direct deposit goes in is all for naught. I really wanted to get some more snow globe badges and games on sale. :/

@spartanx169xI picked up Alan Wake during a humble bundle sale and paid a dollar for it and the expansion American Nightmare.

@gamerno66666Ubisoft isn't my favourite company either, but who in their right mind would spend AAA money to put out a product then put it up for 75% off a month later? If it was a year or two old, maybe that would be greedy, but 1 month is acceptable.

In this case, Ubisoft is right. Every other case though....that's a different story

KiLLLeR150
KiLLLeR150

@gamerno66666 Um... yeah. Only been out a month and a bit. Everything else AC was 75% off though, resulting in all base games except AC III to be $5.

demondogx
demondogx

@gamerno66666 Well that game is only out a month ago, COD Ghost that has been out for double that time is more expensive than black flag, but then again who in their right minds would want cod anyway ?

@DaRq_MiNoS @spikepigeo Yeah, I like to just stick with "scumbag." It captures my rage well enough without resorting to obscenities whilst still drawing a parallel to a detestable object that shares the same molecular composition of the subject in question.

@delta5931 @Gelugon_baat The thing I hate about steam is not being able to be online on two computers or more simultaneously. Like lets say I have two gaming computers. And Someone is using steam on one computer playing Left 4 dead 2. And I want to play Far Cry 3 on steam. Nope can't because its on the same account. Not sure if they changed it but last I remember they did not.

Gelugon_baat

@delta5931

What makes you think that I like Origin? Or that I prefer consoles?

I just don't like to deal with DRM.

STrugglingFool

@LancerPower @STrugglingFool  Just because it looks cheap doesn't mean it is. Amazon sold it for $4.99 and you still can get it for $7.99. The list price is $19.99 and the price on Steam is $49.99. If you then apply the discount for $19.99 you get it cheaper. Obviously. I'm doing this to get the best possible deal.

@demondogx @gamerno66666 The Call of Duty hatewagon sure is everywhere. It's not as ****ing bad as you say it is. Sure, it's the same stuff, but apparently a lot of people like it. I would like to think I'm in my "right mind", so thanks for the insult man.

Soap2k11
Soap2k11

@demondogx @gamerno66666 Call of Duty 1 is 20$ full price....I'm not even joking, On sale it was about -25% making it 15$....that's a 11 year old game, and 10$ more expensive than most last year's titles on sale (max payne 3, far cry 3 etc.)
that being said, Activision you can suck my cojones.

@neowarrior121

You go ahead and be a supporter if you can make money off the trading feature - I personally still don't consider this enough of a bonus to compensate for the hassle.

neowarrior121
neowarrior121

@Gelugon_baat @delta5931 considering i made £5 free off steam by doing nothing but voting every 8 hours and selling the cards you have no rights to NOT like steam.

Gelugon_baat
Gelugon_baat

@notorious98

Steam doesn't need you to be connected online.

However, it does insist on you logging on if it detects an Internet connection.

notorious98
notorious98

@Vegamyster@Gelugon_baatBecause, if at any point you lose the internet, you can't play those games.  The sales are nice, but that's the only time I'd buy a game from Steam.  If it's not specifically an online game, I don't want to be forced into being online to play single player.

Gelugon_baat
Gelugon_baat

@Vegamyster

It's plenty better than most other DRM out there - but I just don't want to deal with DRM.

I had played games that were distributed in DRM-free packages before (e.g. Good Old Games and some Humble Store packages); I appreciate hassle-free game software, and I don't want to go back to any DRM.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@VegamysterYeah, no digital games outside of the US, because the internet is restricted to one country. It'd be way too expensive to "ship" a non-physcial game through the internet to a different country, so Amazon's practices are fully reasonable :P.

Vegamyster
Vegamyster

@STrugglingFoolAmazon doesn't sell digital games outside of the US.

egger7577
egger7577

@STrugglingFool The problem is Amazon doesn't advertise their deals as blatantly as Steam does. I checked the prices and all the games are priced exactly the same except for the game you mentioned. I would rather just download them all on Steam and skip the middle man and still get the achievements. Amazon is a great service but they only drop the prices like this to compete directly with Steam during their sales.
