State of Decay sells 1 million

Undead Labs reveals new sales milestone for open-world zombie game; DLC news teased.

Third-person zombie game State of Decay has now sold more than 1 million copies, up from 500,000 in June, developer Undead Labs announced today. This figure includes Xbox 360 and Steam Early Access sales, the developer said.

"We are humbled by your continuing support and enthusiasm for the ideas in State of Decay," Undead Labs said in a statement. "Your encouragement drives us to keep working and keep improving. You got us here with your energy, your feedback, and your telling your friends about us. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and brains."

Undead Labs also said it is "so close" to having news to share about the first downloadable content pack for State of Decay. No further information about the expansion was announced.

Its a fun game especially for its price.

Personally found the melee to be abit overpowered and once I figured out what I was doing most of the horror went away and it became very arcade style still fun as hell but the survival was more just finding said loot to keep stupid people at compound alive.

You realize you can turn most characters into basically one man melee murder ball machines in like an hour just pick a specialty for a melee weapon and either blunt or edged and go to town...

Is the PC version any good? the Xbox version was terrible.

Awesome game, finally a real horror survivor where you need to care about something else besides shooting. the game is also highly addictive.  no keyboard support on pc, but who cares? its a 3rd person game, besides, shooting is not the main thing here, since noise can attract zombies. you need to think about every single action you take.  for you guys that doesnt have a keyboard, buy a cheap controller and use xbox 360 controller emulator. this game is worth every penny. amazing single player experience. second best game in my opinion.

Not to sound like a d**k, but they said IF this game is popular they'd do the multiplayer mode... well, undead labs? I think the game is successful... Lets talk online... I'd also love to see this on the pos3, but I know that's not possible... :(

YAY! These guys deserve the sales, hopefully this means another title for next-gen or at least that DLC! Might have another play through now.

How about getting the keyboard and mouse controls on the PC instead of worrying about DLC content? That's what's holding back a lot of Early Access sales in my opinion, myself included.

I need this game.  I want to get the PC version but the ''Early access release'' which isnt the end product scares me.

What I meant to say was I got this game on my completed list in three days after it came out it is an awesome game I just hope that they add more to this game besides just sand box mode like more story more stuff to collect and make plus co-op and more characters and more achievements just to make sure it adds more of everything and maybe a little more realism

A DLC that adds co-op would do wonders for this game.

Looks neat, I always wanted a pure survival zombie game, so tired of these stupid story driven ones.

Yet, still unclear as to whether or not it is playable on PC.....but after this many sales, why would they care! ;)

I'll buy it on steam as soon as they add keyboard/mouse support. Looks like a great game.

I still haven't tired of zombie games. This game looks fun.

People's love for zombies sure isn't in a State of Decay.

I wonder how long it'll take before even *this* long-lived trend rots away or gets a bullet in the head.

And as usual, selling on Steam managed what being "timed exclusive" never does.

Excellent game!  Clearly the surprise sleeper hit of the Summer.  I can't wait to see more from Undead Labs.

I'm still mad at them for saying they'd include co-op if it sold enough copies. Then it sold enough copies and they turned around and said they're not doing it. Pretty douchey. Not getting any money from me.

@A-Typing-Llama It looks way better obviously but its on early access right now so there is no M/K support and some bugs.

@Jshaw71 They talked about it already, the problem is networking issues, and it's just too much for them to fix.

koospetoors

@G4m3r0uTL4wZ Its the full 360 game, its just on Early Access because they're still implementing PC features like keyboard and mouse support and so on.

And besides, apart from a few minor bugs the game functions just fine and is definitely worth a buy.

@ozzman69th I doubt you truly did everything to do in 3 days, I spent 3 months playing thousands of completely different runs with different survivors and ideas for my own story.

My favourite one had to be killing of those starting nubs and having the shark hoodie guy as my Main, lead them to dry up the entire land before pushing out and moving around just about every base to follow the supplies. Proper walking dead stuff

@LpcWarrior that will be class 4, or whatever they decided to call it (state of decay was class 3), it was essentially a test for their mmo

@Dsolow5  Keyboard and mouse aren't officially supported but they work as they should. I finished the game using keyboard and mouse.

@Hurvl I don't want it to rot away, why would you? The genre has so much potential.

@toecutter00 They said they would make another game dummy, learn to read, it helps, honest.....

Yamakoichi
Yamakoichi

@Colekern @Jshaw71 the problem is it would take sales away from the MMO that this game was a test bed for!

That is literally all it is.

Nocturnal-Gamer

@WantYouBad @Nocturnal-Gamer Survival as in you have to worry about every single problem that a real zombie apocalypse would bring, but it's not an easy idea to translate in games I suppose.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@silentshade0 @Hurvl It's not me who want that, it's them, i.e. every trend eventually dies out because of other people wanting something different. I don't care anything about zombies, but I don't wish it would go away.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@silentshade0 @Hurvl Oh, then I guess you're not one of the many (crazy?) people who take such a questioning comment personally and in turn thinks that I have a personal grudge against these games. My bad :P.

@toecutter00 I don't know about that article because they recently said again that coop was in the works but didn't clarify if it's going to be for this one or the sequel.
