Nightdive Studios has announced that it is developing a remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

While Nightdive Studios didn't reveal a release date just yet, the studio will announce it later this year. The port, officially and befittingly titled "Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster," will include many new modern features such as 4K resolution and 120fps support, depending on the platform. There will also be advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, as well as achievements.

In addition to this remaster, Nightdive Studios is also working on a remaster of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. This Nintendo 64 first-person shooter game was released in 2000 and the remaster will have many of the same features that Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster does, including 120fps and 4K resolution support.

Star Wars: Dark Forces was first launched on February 28, 1995 for PC and in 1996 for PlayStation. In GameSpot's Star Wars: Dark Forces review, we said, "One of the first titles to actually improve upon the Doom formula, Dark Forces managed to rise above 'me-too' status and become a great game in its own right."
